GIVINGAWAY was founded on 04.09.2008 as a community website run for charity purposes. In 2 months it already made its way to GOOGLE TOP-3 with giving+away keywords. Shortly thereafter, a staggering number of volunteers joined GIVINGAWAY. At the time of hurricane Katrina GIVINGAWAY added Louisiana to its growing list of territories and was doing everything to help people in real time.

Initially GIVINGAWAY was created as a website for the giving and taking of free stuff. Since its most important rule is "TO HEAR what people want" the main idea of GIVINGAWAY was expanded in only its first 2 weeks. More than half of its visitors decided to post their needs also on GIVINGAWAY. People were posting so many want ads that after 1 month the amount of those ads overwhelmed all others. That was a signal to GIVINGAWAY to begin its NEEDED SECTION.

Nowadays GIVINGAWAY is a GOOGLE TOP-1 (giving+away) website and includes both want ads and free stuff ads. GIVINGAWAY is not only free/needed ads. It's also the cheapest way to get items delivered by those from the community who live next door, have a truck and need some extra money. These "delivery guys" will help you to deliver items for the price of gas plus a small fee. And again, it's free to apply and free to post.

The most important thing are the people who run GIVINGAWAY. Over a hundred volunteers keep GIVINGAWAY clean and free of spam. There are no fake ads for free stuff and no hidden obligations at all. GIVINGAWAY adheres to its mission and to the essence of FREE, and gives its visitors a valuable tool to find what they might need.
